Lilly Ethel Bloomer Pierson Carter, age 97, formerly of the Daniel Boone community, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 30, 2018. She was born on November 16, 1921, to Bige Bloomer and Gracie Angeline Weatherly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, James Baxter; and second husband, Rev. Willard Carter; brothers, Echol and Henry Bloomer; sister, Beulah (George) Snowball; son-in-law, Dewey Jones; and several half siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Geraldine Jones, Inece Griffin and Emma Jean Ward; sons-in-law, Dewey Griffin and Bill Ward; grandchildren, Randy Griffin (Beth), Neal Griffin, Stacceye Ward Stallard (Clint) and Jamesion Ward; great-grandchildren, Miranda Griffin Lawson(Steve), Lauren Griffin, Landon Griffin, Laura Ann Griffin, Brandan Wallen, Theo Stallard and baby Stallard, due in July; first cousin, Edna Bledsoe; nephew, Kay Pierson; special step-grandson, Richard Carter(June). The family would like to thank special friend, Lewis Gibson, for his loving care and support for Lilly. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Big Cut Baptist Church in Gate City, VA, with Bro. Jerry Hensley, Bro. Bill Tignor and Bro. Kenneth Neeley officiating. Special music will be provided by Mike and Dottie Lane, George Lane and Glen Lovell. Interment will follow at Baxter-Pierson Family Cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family will be Harold Jones, Lewis Gibson, Bill Ward, Randy Griffin, Neal Griffin and Landon Griffin, Honorary pallbearers will be, Thomas Hensley, Phillip Crook, Mike Gilliam, Kenny Flanary and Dewey Griffin.
