Lily (Kappari) Varón, 89, of Clearwater Beach, formerly of Lima, Perú and Cairo, Egypt, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Devoted wife of and predeceased by Isaac Varón Eskenazi. Beloved mother of Rafael Varón (deceased since 1994), José Varón and his wife, Phyllis Greene; Corinne Varón-Green and her husband, Richard Green; Daniel Felix Varón and his wife, Marcela; David Varón and his wife, Carmen; and Isaac Varón, Jr. and his wife, Sheila. Adored grandmother to Boris J. Varón; Shannah Leah Varón and her husband, Jason Arenburg; Isaac Benjamin Varón; Nicole Lily Varón and her husband, Alonso Franco; Vannia Varón Pazos and her husband Francisco Pazos; José Schwartz Varón; Lily Anna Varón; Isaac Daniel Varón; Mauricio Isaac Varón; Camille Marcela Varón; and Joshua Albert Varón. Beloved great-grandmother to Rafael Isaac Varón; Caleb José Arenburg; Almudena Franco; and Mia Yael Varón (deceased since September 2016). Survived by sister Victoria Kappari de Kaufmann of Toronto, ON. Predeceased by sister, Eva Kappari de Malay. Adored step-grandmother to Lianon Close and her husband Jerry Close; Jason Green and his wife Tali Green, Jared Green and Ali Greene and step-great-grandmother to Isla and Calder Close and Ethan Green. Beloved aunt and great aunt to many relatives around the world. Lily Kappari was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1927 and emigrated to Huancayo, Perú, and ultimately Lima, Perú. She was a leading member of the Peruvian Jewish community, actively serving in the sisterhood while raising her six children. Lily and her husband, Isaac, moved to the United States in 1984 and settled in the Tampa Bay Area. Lily’s life of service and her commitment to opening her home to relatives and friends in need of support are among the attributes for which she is most remembered by her family. Lily was deeply committed to growth and self-improvement, attending St. Petersburg Junior College in her sixties to receive a college degree. Lily was a multicultural, multilingual woman of the world, who used her many language skills to serve others, for example, by helping Haitian students from St. Petersburg Junior College find their homes in Florida. Her life of service never stopped; she was actively volunteering in her synagogue until her final days. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 21, 2016, at David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Largo. Memorial observances following the interment at the Clubhouse at 1430 Gulf Blvd, Clearwater, FL.
