Lincoln Everett Sherman
April 10th, 1952 - September 4th, 2015
Obituary Lincoln Everett Sherman, beloved father of Annelise and Linnea, husband to Renee, brother of Chris and Eric, son to Jim and Merlene, passed away Friday September 4th at home. Lincoln was born at Boulder (Colorado) Community Hospital, on July 10th 1962, 20 days after Renee, who was also born in the same Hospital. His family moved to Golden Valley Minnesota where he resided until he left for college. It was there he developed his love for nature and the outdoors. His family spent summers in the Boundary Water Canoe Wildness Area. He was fortunate to be chosen as a Hommes du Nord, (men of the North) where he embarked on a 50 day canoe trip to the remote areas of the Wilderness of North America. His love of nature and the forest led him to CSU where he graduated with a BS in Range Forest Management. He was student assistant to the Dean at the College of Forestry and also Manger of Moby Gym. He was proud to teach Fort Collins' Local Ambassador of Friendship Barney Apodaca' to swim. Upon graduation Lincoln was hired by the State Forest Service where he became Assistant District Forester. He furthered his education with a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from CU-Denver. He worked for Air Resource Specialists . A colleague remarked that he was incredibly knowledgeable, was skilled at collaborating with all kinds of people on all kinds of projects. He made many friends during his time with ARS. They will agree they loved how he organized the Christmas parties and spent the lunch hour playing pond hockey. Lincoln was a runner during high school; something that has been passed along to his girls, along with his love for the boundary waters, where he taught them to canoe, fish and hunt for rocks along Lake Superior. To all who knew and loved Lincoln, it was to feel like you were part of something extraordinary - almost like witnessing a shooting star catapulting through the sky, so fast and so brilliant- remarked a close friend. We will miss the twinkle in his eye, his incredible smile and his infectious laughter. A celebration of life will be Sunday Sept 20th for friends, colleagues and family. In lieu of flowers, the family is setting up a College Fund for his daughters. Please contact the family to learn more.
