"Granby-Linda G. (LaRochelle) Downie, 64, passed away with the love of her family surrounding her on April 23, 2017. Born in Springfield on March 11, 1953, she was the daughter of Arthur H. LaRochelle, Jr and Jacqueline I. (Brath) LaRochelle. Linda was part of the Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts in Granby for a number of years and also was a member of the American Legion Post 337. She enjoyed bowling at AMF Chicopee and Fun Time Lanes. For 14 years, she worked at Mercy Family Life Center as a unit secretary. Besides her mother, Linda will be dearly missed by her husband, James W. along with her children, Scott and Aimee Downie of Suffolk, VA and their child Kortnie, Tammy Hatfield of Spotsylvania, VA and her children, Jacob and Tessa, Heather and her husband James Guzman of Granby and their children, Christian Perez, Alexander and Lucas Guzman, and James R. Downie, also of Granby. She also leaves her in-laws, Leo Oullette and Bev, Steve and Michelle, Gerry and Laura, Rick and Jan Downie as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her siblings, Tom and his wife Pat LaRochelle, and Peggy Oullette. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Kindly meet directly at the church. Burial will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Shriner's Hosptal, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
