Linda A. McAulay

October 1st, 1940 - August 9th, 2024

In Loving Memory

Linda A. McAulay, 83, of West Columbia, SC, was called home to join her husband on Friday, August 9, 2024. She was born in Florida to Robert and Mattie Williams. She was blessed with 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She graduated from Brandon high school in Florida and married her husband Herman in 1959. At the time of her husband’s passing, they were married for 63 years. Herman was in the Army when they married and she deployed with him overseas to France, Germany and Taiwan (their 2 oldest children were born abroad in Paris, France). Together they raised five children.

For many years she worked in the food industry at various restaurants (including Epcot center at Disney World & “The Lunchbox” in Columbia, SC). She took pride in being a homemaker and raising her family. She was an active member of State Street Baptist Church congregation for over 30 years.  She loved to sew and craft.  She loved to share and gift many of her creations to family and friends. She could fix anything! She had an adventurist spirit, loved spending time with family & friends, traveling, cooking for others, attending to her flowers/plants and regularly attending her adult Sunday school class.  Linda was loved by so many, nobody was a stranger to her and she would give you the shirt off her back!

Linda was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, daughter (Karen), grandson (Ben) and brothers Robert & James.

She is survived by 4 children, Clif (Lisa) McAulay, Patty McAulay (Jeffery Hardwick), Douglas (Kelley) McAulay and Brian McAulay; she was known as “granny” & blessed with 17 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings Ann, Don, Nancy & Joy; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

As a family we would like extend a special “THANK YOU” to her neighbors. The Bryant & Stone families are amazing neighbors and we appreciate them for all their love, caring, kindness and joy they brought to Mom’s life. She loved all of them especially the children, whom she loved as if they were her own grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at State Street Baptist Church in Cayce, SC on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 6 PM. Her final resting place will be at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with her husband.
