Linda Sue McCown
March 13th, 1956 - February 26th, 2022
Linda Shirley McCown, of Mountain Home, passed away in a Boise hospital on 26 February 2022 after a relentless battle with pneumonia and heart failure. She was born 13 March 1956 in Yuma, Arizona to Willard and Lilly Shirley. While attending high school in Atascadero, California she met and later married her future husband Jay McCown. Jay enlisted in the US Air Force shortly after the birth of their first child Justin. They traveled together on numerous assignments across the US and during this period their second child Curtis was born. Eventually they landed their dream assignment to Germany, and Linda especially appreciated her time there. Together Linda and Jay enjoyed traveling to many beautiful and historical locales overseas and in the states while visiting family and friends. Following their overseas assignment, Linda trained as a Medical Assistant at Pima Medical Institute in Tucson and pursued her Medical career in Arizona and Idaho. Along with raising her children, she enjoyed a wide range of activities including: 4-Wheeling, fishing, boating, walking, sewing, reading, movies and much more. She was always eager for new adventures. Linda loved the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior. She wanted to attend church whenever she could, and she looked forward to the freedom of movement in heaven! Born with rheumatoid arthritis, Linda surmounted lifelong challenges including more than 60 orthopedic surgeries and chronic pain. She had grit, wit, and the determination to thrive as well as survive. She embraced her family heritage of Shirley Stubbornness! Throughout her life, she always had a ready smile for others and a genuine love for her family and friends. And those dimples . . . oh, those dimples! Linda was not only a very young looking and cute little lady, she had a special way of attracting friends and acquaintances who eagerly be-friended her. During her whole life, she was always well liked by everyone who met her. She would always greet them with a smile and a hug and took the time to listen to them and make new friends. Linda adored her children and grandchildren, friends and family and loved to be with people. She especially loved babies, animals, and pets. Best of all, she loved the simple things about family life. She is now among the angels and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband Jay, brother Gary, sons Justin (who lives with his wife and children in Texas), and Curtis, who lives here in Idaho; grandchildren Trinity, Madison and Beretta, and her precious copper-colored Pomeranian (Penny). There will be a memorial service Sunday, 13 March 2022, at Hammett Community Church, 9223 W. Church Road in Hammett, Idaho at 11 am. (Please remember to turn your clocks forward). A reception will follow at the Fellowship Hall there. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
