Linda Yvonne Oakley
May 5th, 1941 - March 30th, 2019
Linda Yvonne Putnam Oakley went to be with her heavenly Father on the evening of March 30, 2019. She passed away peacefully at the age of 77. A native of Charlotte, she was born to the late William Franklin Putnam and Myrtle Kimbro Bowers Putnam on May 5, 1941 at Mercy Hospital. In 1956, she married Ronald Herman Oakley. They were married for 43 years and together had two children, Ronald Gary Oakley (deceased) and Trendi Katherine Oakley Vita. Linda was a devoted housewife and mother and became part-owner in a successful courier business along with her husband Ronnie. She had a zest for life, a contagious smile and thoroughly enjoyed being around her family and friends. One of the biggest “joys” in life was taking care of and watching her grandsons grow up. Linda is survived by her daughter Trendi Vita, son-in-law Mark Vita, husband Ronnie Oakley, sister Micky Arceneaux and grandsons William Justin and Taylor Blake Vita. The family will receive family and friends, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm. Memorials in her memory may be made to Charlotte Rescue Mission (Rebound and Dove’s Nest), P.O. Box 33000, Charlotte, NC 28233.
