Linda Kay Watkins

WATKINS, Linda Kay, 73, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away on September 15, 2018. She was born in Ruston, Louisiana and moved to Florida in 1987. Linda attended Louisiana Tech and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where she made lifelong friends and was a loyal and devoted sister. She was a Christian and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Bay Hope Church in Lutz Florida since 1999. Linda was active in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for over 20 years and was a leader for 14 of them. Linda followed in the footsteps of her mother and belonged to P.E.O. Women’s Education Organization, helping celebrate, motivate and educate women to achieve their aspirations. After college she moved to Houston, Texas, was a third grade school teacher and met the love of her life, Dave. She was an avid sports fan and followed college and professional football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Linda loved to needlepoint, had an eye for fashion, and was a great decorator, but she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren most of all. She was a great hostess who loved to entertain and a fantastic cook who specialized in Louisiana-style cuisine. She is preceded in death by her niece, Elizabeth Harrison whom she adored. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, David Watkins; son, Andrew Watkins; daughter, Kim Hannigan and her husband, Scott; brother, John Harrison and his wife, Betty; two granddaughters, Brooke and Hailey; one grandson, Carter; and 2 nephews, David and Keith Harrison. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at the Westchase Campus of Bay Hope Church and a reception is to follow. The family will receive visitors half an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Metropolitan Ministries in her name.
