Linna Kay Dossett

July 18th, 1951 - August 11th, 2024

Linna will always be remembered for her love of the arts, her warm heart, and her wisdom. She wanted the best life for all of her loved ones.

Linna Kay Dossett (née Davis, Verhei), 73, of Bothell, Washington, passed away on August 11, 2024, after enduring a prolonged cancer battle, with strength, courage, humor and grace.

Linna was preceded in death by her parents, her elder sister Tyra, and her grandson Michael. She is survived by her husband Don Dossett; her children, Julie, Amy, Vincent, Ashleigh, her step-children, Emily, and Jake, her precious grandchildren; her brothers, Dwight, Greg, Brent; her sister Shauni, and beloved nieces and nephews.

Linna earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Washington University, in 1991. Later, she spent 15 years with the YMCA, as a Senior Director of Healthy Living, retiring in 2015, to work as a freelance Professional Consultant in Health and Wellness.

Linna’s first child, Julie Maria, was born in 1969, in Longview, Washington.

In 1972, she married Ronald Verhei, and they had three children: Amy Nicole, born in 1973; Vincent Aaron, in 1975; and Ashleigh Etta, in 1978. They raised their children in Bothell, Washington.

In 2003, Linna met her second husband, Donald Dossett, and they were married in 2005. Their blended family brought two more children to Linna, Emily and Jake. The couple settled at Don’s house in Bothell, where they hosted countless birthdays and holiday parties, gathering everyone around the backyard fire pit … after they had done their fair share of yardwork, of course.

Linna and Don found great joy in their grandchildren; Anissa, Tristan, Aislinn, Terran, Michael, Linna Sun, Max, Davis, Lola, Addie, and Kenny. Linna loved buying and making gifts, baking treats, going to ballgames, attending their music concerts, and spending as much time as she possibly could with them.

Faith was very important to Linna, and she ensured prayers or songs of praise were shared before every big family meal. She and Don attended Bothell First Lutheran Church.

Linna will always be remembered for her love of the arts, her warm heart, and her wisdom. She wanted the best life for all of her loved ones. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Prior to her death, she was blessed to learn that her first great-grandchild is scheduled to arrive in early 2025. We will miss her hugs, her laughter, and her love for the rest of our lives.

Services will be held at Bothell First Lutheran Church at noon on Friday, September 13, with a private graveside service to follow. A Celebration of Life reception will begin at 5:00 pm, at Edmonds Waterfront Center. If interested, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to YMCA of Greater Seattle, or Fred Hutch Cancer research.
