Lionel R. Lindsay
December 28th, 1935 - July 31st, 2014
Lionel "Lin" Lindsay died July 31st 2014, at his home in Melbourne, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in 1935 and married in 1958, he is survived by his wife of over 50 years Grace Polly, daughter Grace Stoop-Andrews, son Michael, and son-in-law Matthew Andrews. Lin also took great joy in his seven grandchildren Eli, Isaac, Nathan, Kelsey, Natalia, Brianna, and Clayton, also his cat, Oliver. Lin was ordained in 1958 into the Brooklyn-Nassau Presbytery; he received his Doctorate of Ministry in 1982 at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. He also held an S.T.B. from New York Theological Seminary (1958) and a Th. M. from Princeton Theological Seminary (1961). Lin served five Presbyterian churches as minister between the years of 1958 and 2000 in the states of NY, FL, and KY. He also served the Presbyterian Church at various times as Commissioner to the General Assembly in Baltimore and Orlando, Moderator of the Presbytery of North East Florida, and Secretary and Co-Chair of the Committee on Ministry of Louisville Presbytery. Lin was also a much sought after speaker, leader, and instructor. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Wellsprings Church in Satellite Beach on Monday the 11th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Heart of Africa, P0 Box 5, Friendship, ME 04547 (a memorial fund in his name has been created).
