Lionel Stephen Sequeira
December 19th, 1939 - January 21st, 2019
Lionel Stephen Sequeira, 79, of Amador County, CA passed away January 21, 2019 at Sutter Amador Hospital. He was born and raised in Newman, CA to his parents Elidio and Virginia Sequeira. Lionel attended local elementary and high schools in Newman, CA. He was a graduate of University of Pacific School of Pharmacy and was proud to play football for UOP. Lionel spent his career as a pharmacist for several retail pharmacies in Sacramento. He went on to manage many pharmacies in Northern California and Northern Nevada. He was known for his very innovative ideas in retail pharmacy. The most rewarding aspect of his career came from getting to know his many customers and co-workers. He was a “people person” and always exhibited a caring, thoughtful nature, with a keen sense of humor. He never accepted anything but the best in himself or in those that he supervised. He was fair, and poor quality in his work was not tolerated. He loved the outdoors and showed much creativity in gardening, landscaping, and woodworking. He was a wonderful listener and most of all, a devoted husband, and friend to many. Lionel is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Susan Sequeira (Ghiglieri), of Amador County; brothers, Melvin (Colleen) Sequeira, of West Point, CA, and Eugene Sequeira, of Fresno, CA; and several nieces and a nephew. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 115 Court Street, Jackson, CA on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Private interment will be at Jackson Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lionel’s name to a charity of your choice.
