Obituary Llewellyn (Lew) Charles Burkett passed away on December 30, 2019 at the age of 74 in Fort Collins Colorado surrounded by family. Lew was born on August 30, 1945, to Josephine (Kuechenmeister) and Llewellyn Burkett. He grew up in Minot, North Dakota and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 1964. He was active in the Army Reserves for 20 years of service. Lew lived in West Fargo, ND for many years, Aurora and Denver, CO, Apache Junction, AZ, and Post Falls, ID, before moving to Ft. Collins, CO in 2018. Lew was a very loving and compassionate man. He would do just about anything for anyone. He enjoyed reading western novels, collecting old coins and playing Sudoku. Lew enjoyed exploring our country's natural landscapes, particularly in the West. He was a gentle and kind man who befriended many throughout his life. Lew will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by three sons, Bill Burkett and John Burkett, of West Fargo, ND, and Tim Burkett from the Seattle, WA area, brothers Joe (Ann) Burkett of Fort Collins, CO, Jim (Betty) Burkett of Post Falls, ID, and sisters Carol (Dave) Harkleroad of Bucyrus, KS, Kathie Holmes of Safford, AZ, and Eleanor Burkett of Brainerd, MN. He had two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lew was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn Fairbrother and brothers Tom and Ron Burkett. Lew's final resting place will be with family at Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, ND. Surviving family will gather at a later date to celebrate Lew's life.
