Lifelong Amador County resident Lois M, (Hale) Bonneau passed away at her home in Jackson at the age of 94 on February 15th. She was born in 1926 to Walter A. and Mary Anne Hale on the Hale Ranch in Volcano, along with seven siblings. Lois attended the old Charleston School at the corner of Shakeridge and Charleston Rds. and graduated from Sutter Creek Union High School. She was one of the first telephone operators for the Volcano Telephone Co. along with her sister Doris (Hale) Bonneau. In 1948 she married Charles E. Bonneau, also a native of Volcano and they lived in their home in Jackson together until his death in 2003. She loved to garden and her beautiful azalea garden was her pride and joy. Fortunately, she was able to enjoy being outdoors in her garden until very recently. Lois also was a voracious reader throughout her life. Lois was an avid SF Giants and SF 49er fan and never missed a game of any of her favorite teams. When her grandsons Ryan and Evan were young Lois attended all of their sporting events, loudly cheering them on. She made homemade raviolis every year during the holidays and passed the tradition on to her grandsons who are now the family ravioli makers. She was always happiest hunting and hiking on the Hale Ranch and grew up hunting birds and deer with her father as a child. Hunting was a part of her life for many years and she enjoyed accompanying her sons Craig and Doug on hunting trips to the ranch. She also enjoyed spending a day at the ranch cutting wood with her family, after which a picnic lunch would follow. Lois and Charles frequently enjoyed meals at Perko's Cafe where they chatted with many of their lifelong friends. Lois was predeceased by her siblings Walter, Raymond, Elvin, Herbert, Aline, and Lillian Hale. She is survived by her sister Doris (Hale) Bonneau, her four children: Gail (Bonneau) Subke (Doug), Craig Bonneau, Debbie Bonneau, Douglas Bonneau (Daralyn), her much loved grandsons Ryan and Evan Bonneau, and several nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no services except a private family gathering at a later date. Memorial contributions in Lois's honor may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America at POB 758589 Topeka, KS 66675-9950 and Hospice of Amador 1500 So. Hwy. 49, #205 Jackson, Ca. 95642, or the charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting www.danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book.
