Lois was born on June 14th, 1938 to Samuel and Beulah (Leffingwell) Nelson, in Salem, Oregon. At the age of 3 she moved to Tigard Oregon, where her father built many homes, including the one Lois grew up in. She then married Harold Gerg in 1977. Together they shared 36 years of marriage. In 1998 while in Acapulco, Mexico, she hailed a cab and met the driver Benjamin not knowing how she would change the lives of many and from then on, she and Harold made many trips to Acapulco helping the people on the outskirts of town, taking clothes and Bibles and fed the poor of Mexico. She brought several people to know the Lord through her ministry. Lois' last trip was just this January. Lois leaves behind, her husband, Harold Gerg, son Brian Abraham & his wife Gail, daughter Lori Halverson & her husband Thor, son Curt Abraham & his wife Juli, her other daughters Helen Gersema & husband Duke, and Suzanne Bigelow & her husband Allen, and her honorary son Benjamin Alarcon in Acapulco. Lois was my mother in law. The one thing I will remember the most about her was her great capacity to give. She was always giving everything she had to help those in need. She loved her family and accepted me like one of her own. Curt and I miss her every day and know that one day will be with her again!

Lois was my grandmother. She and I had a really close relationship, we did so much together. She took me on one of her mission trips to Acapulco, she helped me with my schooling and she was always there to listen. Some of my favorite memories of her are silly ones. My grandma was quite the character. Instead of candy or ice cream, she would give my brother and I tic taks. Or, and we have pictorial evidence, she took us to go play on the swings... at Walmart. When I was little, she and I had matching swimsuits. In a lot of ways, she wasn't just my grandma, but a best friend. I will always cherish the times that we had together and am grateful that I was able to help take care of her in her last few years. She taught me how to be strong and how to love people, no matter what they do or don't have. She taught me about generosity and faith. I love so you much, Grandma. I miss you, but I will see you again one day.

Lois was my mom, I miss her so much, we would talk daily on the phone, and I long to hear her voice again. She was love by so many, but none more than her family. She would do anything for us. One call and off she would go to run an errand for me, look at something for on listed on craigslist, or go to Decorette, and send something in the mail that I would need here on the coast. She loved her grand kids with her whole heart, coming down to Knappa for anything that they would be doing in school, from 4th grade plays, from 6th grade volleyball games to science fair and 6th grade DARE promotions, she was always there. I know that she is watching me from heaven, and she will be at the up coming events in our lives, but it won't be the same. I want to thank each and everyone of you that shared a part in her life, we will all miss her so much. See you again soon Mom. I love you.

Lois was my best friend. I miss her so much. I discovered the other day I have an old message from Lois on my cell phone. She was telling me she was feeling pretty good and to give her a call. I wish more than anything I could call her now. I'm happy for her because she is in heaven with Jesus and has no more pain. But it's sad for all of us she left behind. She loved her family more than anything and I'm praying for each of them. God Bless you all.......
