Lola Armitage Barker Blevins, 95 of Frankfort Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at home, where she was being cared for by her family, beloved caregivers and Hospice, while battling cancer and pulmonary disease. A native of Menifee County, she was born November 21, 1922 to the late Benjamin and Rosa Wright Armitage. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Preceding her in death was her husband Charles Emerson Blevins on February 5, 1988, a valiant and awarded veteran in WW II, 2 sisters, Wilma, and Freda. Also preceding her in death was her first husband Clayton Alvin Barker, died 1944 at his 1st deployment in WW II, at the Hedgerows of Germany. Lola worked in a factory in Middletown, Ohio, where she helped manufacture the M 1 Carbine. She is survived by four sons, Charles Emerson Blevins III, (Betty) of Bardstown, Ky., Kenneth Wayne Blevins (Mary Beth), of Moulton, Texas, Daryl Edwin Blevins (Patty), of Georgetown, Ky. Kevin Paul Blevins of Frankfort. Also, one sister, Audrey Conway, Frenchburg, three brothers, Kenneth Sherman Armitage (Opal), Winchester, Jerry Armitage, Bossier City, Louisiana, and Benny Clayton Armitage (Emma), Frenchburg. Also 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Lola was raised in the foothills of Menifee and Bath Counties, during horse and buggy days. She remembered her childhood during the depression. She was a woman of integrity and strong will. She loved to draw and paint and read. We are blessed to have had such a mother, one that loved the Lord and relied upon Him in troubled times. In her last days, she would mumble to herself, I need to go to church, though due to her health, she has not been able to assemble for some time. We will miss you very much mom. Your love, your generous and kind heart. With fond memories, we say goodbye for now, and in the hope, we have in the Lord, see you later. We are so grateful to all the family, the care givers, the hospice personnel, the Nurses, the Doctors, everyone that was so patient and loving while you helped mom. Much love. You will always have our gratitude. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
