Loma Maxine Tallan

January 17th, 1921 - November 28th, 2013

Born near Humboldt, Nebraska to Edgar and Thelma McClain, Loma spent her early years in Nebraska; Daughter to a farmer; Educated in school there, and graduating from Stella high school in 1938. Shortly thereafter, Loma met and married Ross Franklin Avery and they moved to the Salem, Oregon area in the early 1940's. Loma was married to Ross almost 40 years until his Death in April of 1978. Later, in 1981, Loma married Otis S. Tallan of Salem Oregon who preceded her in death. Loma always liked to look pretty and sold Avon cosmetics; Worked as a pharmacy clerk for many years, and later in life sold greeting cards at senior centers. Loma loved the Lord with all of her heart, and enjoyed worship and Bible study groups with her friends. She was a warm hearted lady who never turned-down an opportunity to give a hug. She most recently attended the Southwest Bible Church in Beaverton where she was involved in senior groups. Both of her Parents preceded Loma in death. Loma was the oldest of 4 sisters, two of which survived her: Edrea Juliano and Joyce Larsen. She was preceded in death by her sister Naomi Niemeyer. Loma was a loving wife and the mother of three Daughters: Shirley French; Jennifer Rawlins (John); Debbra Houston (Manuel). Loma had 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and even a great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 2pm at the Southwest Bible Church located at 14605 SW Weir Rd. Beaverton, Oregon 97007. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Bible Society in Loma's name.
