Lorain Elizabeth Hicks

Kingsport – Lorain Elizabeth Hicks, 86 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. She thoroughly enjoyed being a grandmother and her grandchildren loved her very much. Lorain was a most spirited Chicago Cubs fan, especially with her husband, daughter, son and his family. She was also a champion Yahtzee player with all her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Styck Brinkman; sister, Doris Birr and brother-in-law William Birr; brother, Donald Brinkman and sister-in-law Dollie Brinkman; brother-in-law, Marlin Kane. Lorain is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger Hicks; son, David Hicks and wife Vicki; daughter, Brenda Heidt and husband Phil; grandchildren, JoLynne, Kaitlyn and Marci Heidt, Ryan and Jacob Hicks; several nieces and nephews. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at East Lawn Memorial Park (Mausoleum #2) with Rev. Jack Wiekel officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Hicks family.
