Lorelei Kyllonen Lorelei Kyllonen (1959-2012) Lorelei Lee Kyllonen passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2012 after a long battle with breast cancer. Lorelei was born March 20, 1959 in Renton, Washington. She attended school in Washington and California and later moved to Reno, Nevada before settling down in Eugene. She worked as a secretary to the City of Springfield Attorney's office for many years. She later went on to work as an assistant to the South Lane School District Superintendent. Lorelei was active in volunteer work and always believed in helping others. She volunteered for the SMART reading program and mentored girls in the Committed Partners for Youth program for several years. Each year at Christmas, Lorelei sponsored a family in need through the St. Vincent de Paul "Adopt a Family" program. Lorelei was passionate about helping to raise funds for breast cancer research and spent many years organizing teams for the Komen " Race for the Cure " and the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life". She loved making a positive contribution wherever she spent her time and energy. Lorelei is survived by her parents, Deanna Barger of Springfield, Harvey and JoAnne Kyllonen of Canyonville; her sister, Lindy Turpen of Eugene; her brother, Sonny Kyllonen of Springfield, and her brother Nathaniel Kyllonen of Albany. She was a beloved Aunt to Shelly Dickson of Junction City, Derek Wing of Portland, Sara Morrison of Fresno, Sean Kyllonen of Fresno, Mikayla Kyllonen of Canyonville, Nathaniel Kyllonen Jr. of Albany, and Great Aunt to William, Kate, and Grace Dickson of Junction City and Sage Kyllonen of Fresno. She also loved her two "girls in fur coats", Lola and Riley. Lorelei will be missed by all of her loving family and many close friends. Lorelei was a wonderful gift to everyone who knew her. A feisty, funny, fearless redhead, she loved spending her time with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her strength, courage, lively humor, and loving spirit. On her front door hangs a small, treasured sign that affirms her lifelong motto and everlasting legacy: "Be Kind". A Celebration of Life will be held at Musgrove Family Mortuary, 1152 Olive Street in Eugene at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 28. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation . Musgrove Family Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
