Loren Eldon Anderson of Leaburg, Oregon passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 of causes related to Parkinson's Disease. He was 83. Loren was born on July 2nd, 1928 to Minnie and Eldon Anderson in Bismarck, North Dakota. After graduating from Bismarck High School, Loren enlisted in Marine Corps for two years before attending college. In 1952, he graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN and took a job with Gulf Oil Corporation. This lead to a distinguished career with Gulf Oil spanning 32 years. With his business knowledge and his natural ability to work with people, he gained respect from colleagues both nationally and internationally. In 1956, Loren married his wife, Dee, in Salt Lake City, which was the first of many places they lived during the Gulf Oil years. After retiring from Gulf in 1984, Loren and Dee moved to Oregon where they built their dream home on the banks of the McKenzie River. Their home became a favorite meeting place for friends and family. Loren was blessed with an abundance of lifelong friends who enjoyed each other's company at annual gatherings. He was a avid traveler, visiting 38 countries on six continents with his wife and dear friends, the Mitchells. In his retirement, Loren devoted himself to community service as a member of the McKenzie River Lions Club. He was also active with the Eugene Airport Commission, the McKenzie River Chamber of Commerce, and the Chevron Retirees Association. In addition to his wife, Loren is survived by his daughter Kristen (John) of Palo Alto, CA, son Eric and daughter Karen (Chris) of Seattle, granddaughters Ivy and Stella Davis and Sofie Peterson, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
