Lori Heston

Lori was born November 2, 1962, in Bridgeport, CT to Elizabeth DeAngelis (Findlay) and Douglas DeAngelis. Lori is survived by her husband, Joseph Heston, her daughter, Nicole Aguilar (Heston), her mother, Elizabeth DeAngelis, her 2 brothers, Scott DeAngelis and Keith DeAngelis, and her 2 grandchildren. Growing up in Naugatuck, CT, Lori is a graduate of Naugatuck High School (class of 1980). She and her family relocated to Pasadena, MD in 2002, and most recently to Broomfield, CO to be with her daughter, Nicole and her family. Lori found her passion in the late 1990s when she began working as a travel agent. She enjoyed helping people choose the perfect destination for their trip and working out all the details to give them the best vacation possible. She also enjoyed the perks that came with the job! After being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015, she and her husband, Joe, decided to move to Colorado to be with their daughter and her family, to make the most of the time she had left. They were able to go on vacations together, cross off a few “bucket list” items, and just generally enjoy each other while they could. Lori chose not to disclose her illness to most people. She just wanted to live the best life she had left. The lesson she passed on to her family was this: “If there is someone in your life that you would rush to their bedside when learning that they are dying, don’t wait. Through her journey with cancer, one of Lori’s biggest concerns was others who did not have the quality of insurance she had, or the cash to pay the copayment for their medicine. The PAF works with patients and their care providers to help them receive funding to pay for their necessary medical treatments. For some perspective, just ONE of Lori’s medications cost $7,000 per month. Insurance covers much of that… but not all of it. At one point, she was on 9+ daily medications.
