Lorna Mendoza

Lorna Mendoza, of Bay Point, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27th, surrounded by her family, after a serious sudden illness. She was 60. She was born on October 19, 1959, in the Philippines to Benjamin Devera and the late Asuncion (Dulay). While in college, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Romeo Mendoza, and they married in 1978. In 1989, they immigrated with their two sons to America, eventually settling in Pleasant Hill. She worked in food service at The Kensington in Walnut Creek for ten years and most recently for eighteen years as a Deli Clerk at the Countrywood Safeway in Walnut Creek. Lorna will be sorely missed and is survived by her husband Romeo; sons Erick (Enid) and Kristoffer (Misa); grandchildren Emilio, Kaleo, and Esme; father Benjamin; siblings Rufino Mapile (Helen), Danilo, Jean Coloma, Ferdinand, and Steven; and her many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her mother Asuncion and sister Clemencia. Lorna was a faithful Catholic and loved her family deeply. At any time of the day or night, you could find her watching religious programs on her television. Nana was her most precious title and she tirelessly devoted her days off from work to her grandchildren. All whom loved her will never forget her exuberant laugh, rosy smile, delectable cooking, calming patience, and the thoughtful touch of love and care she put in to everything she did. She was also loved by her colleagues and customers at Safeway. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 2:00 pm until the time of the vigil and rosary at 7:00 pm, at the Oak Park Hills Chapel located at 3111 North Main Street in Walnut Creek. The funeral service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 860 Oak Grove Road in Concord, on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11:00 am.
