Lorraine Maria Huard

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Maria Huard (nee Barela) announces her passing after a brief illness on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the age of 74 years. Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Deacon Ken Huard (Capt., USAF Ret.) and their four sons, Ken (Melanie), Steve (Amy), Kevin (Veda), and Chris (Jennifer). Lorraine will be fondly remembered by her 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ashley (Bryan), Jakeb (Julie), Izak, Ariadne, Sayre (Kelsey), Sophie, Kienan, Grayson, Alice, Franklin, Hazel, Addison, and Harper. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Santiago and Maria, and her brothers Crestino (Mary), and Richard (Alice). She is survived by her sisters, Viola Romero (Frank), and Gloria Archunde (Greg). Faithful Lorraine was born on October 30, 1943 in La Jara, Colorado. Lorraine met her future husband at a USO dance and was smitten enough to marry the love of her life on May 7, 1966 in Englewood, Colorado. Lorraine was active in many Catholic ministries that allowed her to serve her life in honor of Christs teachings: Stephen Ministry in honor of the incarcerated and forgotten, Cursillo Ministry in honor of deepening the Christian faith she held so dear, and Funeral Services Coordination as a familys point of contact in difficult times. She was strong, stubborn, humorous, loving, intelligent, faithful, and very much the matriarch of the family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A vigil and rosary will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 5 PM, Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. A Funeral Service in memory of Lorraine will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 10 AM, also at Saint Patrick with Bishop Michael Sheridan as the mass celebrant.
