Mrs. Lorraine J. "Lori" Kenny, age 77, of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Nathan Littauer Hospital after succumbing to complications related to a brief and sudden illness. Born Lorraine Joan Engstrom on April 2, 1936, Lori grew up in Bronx, NY. She was a nationally ranked cyclist finishing 4th in the 1954 Olympic Trials. After high school she worked as a secretary until she met her devoted husband of 50 years, Donald Kenny. Mrs. Kenny was a Gloversville resident for 38 years and worked as a secretary for both Grandoe Gloves and The Lexington Center. Lori was a proud military wife and mother, a consummate friend who loved golfing, traveling and her 5 grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit where she was active in the Social Spirits. Survivors include: her husband, Donald L. Kenny of Gloversville; three children: Donall E. Kenny Elizabeth of Colorado, Susan K. Raiano Robert of Amsterdam and Scott K. Kenny Shelley Oxford of Bellevue, NE; a sister, Doris Troll of Glenhead, NY; five grandchildren: Donald Raiano, Kathleen Kenny, Patrick Kenny, Kyle Kenny and Chayce Kenny. Lori was predeceased by her parents, John and Susan Brauer Engstrom and a brother, John C. Engstrom, Jr. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 2nd at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Church of the Holy Spirit's flower fund at 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
