Louanne Edna DeSpain

July 7th, 1953 - February 7th, 2012

Louie passed away with her family by her side at St. Vincent Hospital following a long battle with cancer. Louie was born in Aguilar, Colorado to Edward Pfenning and Rosemarie Brozovich. She spent her youth in the Idaho pan handle where she graduated from Wallace High School in 1971. She worked in the food industry from 1971-1983, following which she went to work for Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner, Oregon and eventually retired from St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon after 20 years. Louie was always reaching for her next goal. Some of her most proud achievements were becoming a volunteer firefighter and working as an EMT on the ambulance in Heppner, and winning the pride award while working on the cardiac unit at St. Vincent Hospital. She always chose a path of service, always putting others before herself and making the choice to help without ever asking for anything in return. She was an avid crafter, enjoyed crocheting and was a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed many outings to hockey and Trail Blazer games as well as music concerts with her family. She had a passion for gardening and loved to be outside working with flowers and landscaping the yard. Louie married Chris DeSpain in 1985. They resided in Heppner until 1989 when they moved to the valley with their family. Louie was living in Scappoose, Oregon at the time of her passing. Louie is survived by her husband, Chris, of Scappoose; daughters, Mickie Parker, of Battle Ground, and Randie Cox, of Scappoose; son, Jason Cameron, of St. Helens; five grandchildren; parents, Edward Pfenning and Rosemarie Perdew; sisters, Audrey Miller, and DeeDee Brown; and brother, Eddie Pfenning. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:30 p.m., at the Scappoose Adventist Center, 52489 Columbia River Highway, Scappoose, Oregon. Arrangements by Autumn Funerals, Cremation & Burial, Tigard, Oregon.
