Louis Joseph Malik, Jr., 81, of Parker, Entered into Heaven on October 4, 2015 surrounded by family. Retired Hughes Aircraft Aerospace Engineer. Loving Husband of 57 years to Susie Malik. Proud Father of Larry (Pam) Malik, Leslie Malik Carlos and Luann (Mark) Malik. Grandpa of Allyson Malik and Slater Carlos. Beloved Brother of Cynthia Chumara, Linda Karg, Donald Malik and Sharon Malme. Father-in-Law of David Carlos. Lou grew up in Chicago, where he lived for over 20 years; naturally he was an avid Cubs fan! He excelled in technical high school where he was encouraged to hone his skills in electrical engineering, woodworking and machinery. He began his college education at the University of Illinois. These skills proved to be valuable when the Korean War called him to serve in the Air Force. Lou was stationed in Japan where he was in charge of the electrical maintenance section. From the West coast of Japan, they would monitor Korea on radar keeping a vigilant eye; as Lou stated: “so that Korea was not planning an attack on Japan.” Lou appreciated the Japanese culture while he spent 2 years there making friends, playing baseball and exploring photography. After his service in the Air Force was completed, Lou returned to college to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering at Tri State College in Indiana and was an active member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity on campus. During his last year of college, Lou met Sue, they dated for a year, then married. Lou was quickly transferred to California for his new life in the burgeoning aerospace industry. During their time in California, the happy couple gave birth to son Larry and adopted a daughter, Leslie. Soon after, Lou was transferred to Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado. The family settled in Aurora, where daughter Luann was born. Lou spent many Sundays enjoying Broncos games with close friends, travelling in the RV, boating and working towards retirement from Hughes Aircraft. Once he retired, the family moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona, where he enjoyed hobbies such as woodworking, gardening, politics and science. They missed the Colorado lifestyle so they returned to reconnect with friends and family, settling in Parker where he continued wood crafting and working in his beloved garage. Service Information
