Louis A. Pasquarelli, of Julia St., Amsterdam, in his 90th year, passed away at his home with his loving family at his side on Thursday morning April 10, 2008. Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 25, 1918, he was a son of Silvestro and Angelina Stellato Pasquarelli. He was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and attended local schools. In 1959 Mr. Pasquarelli founded Lou's Electric of Amsterdam, Inc., he has since passed the family business to his sons, Tom and Chris. He also worked for a time at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam where he was in charge of Electrical Maintenance and last worked as the Clerk of the Works for the Greater Amsterdam School District. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving stateside during the war. Lou was a very active member of St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was a former Trustee, Usher, Parish Council Member and was Past Chairman of the Festa and Spaghetti Dinner Committees. He was also a member of the church's Holy Name Society. As a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #209, he served as Past Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, Home Association President, Bingo Chairman and was a member of the Msgr. William A. Browne 4th Degree Assembly, also serving as Past Faithful Navigator and color corps participant along with other various New York State K of C positions. He also belonged to the Southside Veterans Association. Lou was a very hard working, devoted family man. He married Letitia "Lottie" Trolio Pasquarelli on June 6, 1943. She passed away on April 5th, 2006. Survivor's include six sons, Robert Pasquarelli and his wife Joan of Averill Park, NY, Anthony Pasquarelli and his wife Linda of Fort Mill, S.C., Louis N. Pasquarelli and his wife Kathy of Matthews, North Carolina, Joseph Pasquarelli and his wife Ginny of Roswell, GA, Tom Pasquarelli and his wife Karen of Amsterdam and Chris Pasquarelli and his wife Libby also of Amsterdam. 15 Cherished Grandchildren, Jesse Pasquarelli, Heather Kress, Andra Ackerman, Christina & Carrie Pasquarelli, Lou & Dan Pasquarelli, Nicola & Alexa Pasquarelli, Tom Pasquarelli Jr., Gina Pasquarelli-Cole, Stephen Pasquarelli, Carla, Maria and Christopher Pasquarelli. 10 beloved great grandchildren, Nick and Amber Pasquarelli, Rebecca and Allison Kress, Michael and Nicholas Pasquarelli, Tyler and Madison Cole, Macie and Massimo Pasquarelli. Two Brothers, John Pasquarelli of Ft. Hunter, NY and Frank Alice Pasquarelli of Tribes Hill, NY. Two sisters, Mary Joe Buzzelli of PA, & Theresa Lou Muscatello of Amsterdam. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Kaczor in 1998. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 14th, 2008 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St, Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal "Pat" Iannotti as celebrant. Interment is in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday April 13th, 2008 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Knights of Columbus Council 209 3rd and 4th Degree and Color Corps will meet Sunday at 4pm at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to G.A.V.A.C, P.O. Box 11, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Manny's Corners Rd. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
