Kellie Elzinga

Louis E. Posner, my brother was born September 18, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Posner and Francess Nadine Posner at White Cross Hospital. He was married to Patricia A. McSorely on April 9th, of 1978. Louis graduated from Bexley High School in 1958 soon after graduation he joined the U.S Navy and was assigned to the 6th fleet which harbored in Jacksonville, Florida. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga 60 where he was one of 5,000+ crew member. There he operated the ship’s store and received accommodations for operating the store with no financial loss during his tenure. After 6 years with the U.S. Navy he received an honorable discharge. He took advantage of the military’s benefits by using their education benefits to attend college at Ohio State University graduating with an average grade point of 3.9 and graduating with OSU’s Bachelor of Science in 3 years instead of 4. After graduation Louis sat for the Certified Public Account (CPA) exam and passed all 4 parts on the first sitting placing him in the top 5% of those taking the exam. Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell (an accounting firm) quickly picked up Louis to add to their staff of corporate tax auditors; which Louis did for 7+ years. After his employment with Peat, Marwick, and Mitchel; Louis became interested in Citizen Band radio, at that time CB’ers had periodic events called CB Jamborees. Louis saw a business opportunity at these events; engraving CB’ers name tags with their ‘handles’ plus the date of the event. Louis grew this small event driven business into a gift shop offering engravable items for weddings, sporting events, graduations, etc. Louis and Patricia opened their business in Gahanna, Ohio under the name of Ohio Engraving Company and also sold wholesale items to other engravers under the name of Engraver’s Supply. Louis and his wife Patricia operated Ohio Engraving for nearly 40+ years. Louis and Patricia sold the business in 2017 and their house to move to Arizona to live with myself and my wife Pilarina (Rina). Rina as a certified caregiver was able to accommodate Louis and Patricia basic daily needs. Louis and Patricia lived with us for about one year when Louis had a catastrophic health event that placed him beyond Rina’s caregiving skills. Louis and Patricia were eventually transferred to a group home where they remained for nearly a year. However, the group home expense was beyond their financial means and they were both transferred to Archstone under ALTC financial assistance program. Louis and Patricia shared a room together until she passed in 2021 leaving Louis by himself. Because of Parkinson’s Louis was bed-bound or nearly 6 years, his only joy was when Rina and I would bring him lunch and some treats. Plus, he enjoyed watching Family Feud with Steve Harvey. Louis always maintained his sense of humor and quick wit; he was enjoyed by the staff at Archstone Health Care Center. Louis is survived by his brother David W. Posner and his niece Andrea Gable. Louis will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace my brother as your spirit lives on forever.
