Lt. Col. William E. Scott, Sr.
October 8th, 1934 - March 18th, 2023
Lt. Col. William E. Scott, Sr. passed on Saturday March 18th, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Green-Scott of Anderson, SC; his father, Roy Harold Scott, Sr. of Elberton, GA; and his first wife, Glenda Scott-Shelton of West Columbia, SC. Lt. Col. Scott is survived by his two sons, William E. “Bill Jr.” Scott of Lexington, SC and Charlton Anthony “Tony” Scott of West Columbia, SC. Lt. Col. Scott is also survived by his two grandchildren whom he loved more than anything, Jordan William Scott and Haleigh Elizabeth Scott of West Columbia, SC, the son and daughter of Bill Jr, and former wife Jeanne Harmon-Scott. Other survivors are his two sisters, Estelee Pierce and Elizabeth Cook; step-brother, Michael D. Blackston; brothers, Roy Jr., Jon, and Jim. Also surviving are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Francis Gunter of Chapin, SC; his niece, Stephanie Gunter-Pern and her husband Joe of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Peter Darren Wayne Gunter and his wife Kim of Gilbert, SC. Tony would like to offer a special thank you to Linda and Brett for all the attention and love they gave our dad. Our dad wanted a very heart felt special “Thank You” to a long time devoted and beloved friend to both the Scott and Gunter Families, Ms. Doris Heller of Columbia, SC, who just recently celebrated her ninety-eighth birthday. Doris, we couldn’t have done it without you! There is no doubt that you are truly a gift of God.
