Lucia Kurosawa
September 21st, 1940 - February 14th, 2014
Lucia (Lucy) Kurosawa was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 21, 1940. She went to St. Francis High School and eventually completed a degree in Nursing and worked at Queens Hospital. For almost 61 years, starting at 12 years old, she has battled various health conditions and endured each one, including lupus, cataracts, renal failure, and cancer. She has survived dialysis, a kidney transplant, cornea transplants, hip surgeries, and multiple other operations over the course of her lifetime, totaling over 20 procedures. Her love for her two children and the joy of seeing her grandchildren grow up kept her motivated and gave her the drive to continuously fight through all her pain and suffering. She did so with strong support from her family and friends, and from her loving husband Kenneth Kurosawa, whom she has been married to for 51 years. The love of Lucy and Kenneth is nothing short of amazing. They both have withstood hardships in their lives, especially when it came to their health, but they have persevered together with strong positive attitudes, endless senses of humor, and the unfaltering commitment to each other. They complemented each others strengths and supported each others weaknesses. They were devoted to their faith and prayed the rosary every night, trusting Gods plan for their life together. They are the epitome of one soul, two bodies. On Valentines Day, the Day of Love, Heaven gained another Angel. She passed away peacefully with her family and friends surrounding her in a circle of love. Kenneth and Lucy will always be an inspiration to all of us. They are the ultimate partnership, true role models of love for a lifetime. She is at peace now, and it will be a sweet day when we get to see her again. Lucy is survived by her loving family: her husband Kenneth Kurosawa; son Ken Kurosawa and his wife Robin of Seattle, WA; daughter Lu-Anne Macadangdang her husband Tony of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Anthony Kalani, Matthew Kekoa, and Christopher Kaimana Macadangdang. She is also survived by her siblings: (sister) Josepha Lumbao and her husband Romulo of Harbor City, CA and (brother) Alfredo Kaay and his wife Ruby also of Harbor City, CA. Other family members include many nieces, nephews and cousins.
