Luciana "Lucy" Santori Pope, 86, of Wilton, CT formerly of Port Charlotte, FL passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 14, 2015. She was born in Cellino Attanasio, Teramo, Italy on May 29, 1929. She graduated from nursing school in Teramo, Italy and worked as a midwife and nurse in Naples, Italy. This is where she met her late husband, a US Navy officer, Master Chief Roger R. Pope Sr., and moved to the US in 1955. Before taking residence in CT., Lucy and her late husband Roger R. Pope Sr. were long time residents of Port Charlotte. They were active in their church & community for years. One of their hobbies was the sport of shuffleboard. Lucy was crowned Women's Champion more than once in Port Charlotte. Survived by a daughter, Laura Pope (Craig Smith), a son Roger Pope, Jr. and a daughter, Sandra Pope (Mike Sutilla); grandchildren, Michelle Dekkers, Jason Pope, Jessica Pope, Shauna Smith, Jennifer Robinson, Jared Robinson and Jager Robinson; and great grandchildren Jessica Renee and Kevin Duane Salas, children of Jessica Pope. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12:30 PM, Dec. 22, 2015 at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Rd. in Punta Gorda. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte Friends may visit online at www.charlottememorial.com to extend condolences to the family.
