Lucille Bocks Lucille Evelyn Fisher was born in 1924 in San Jose, CA to Evelyn Loretta and John Alfred Fisher. She passed away Sept. 22, 2016 at Paradise Hospice House at the age of 92. After graduating from high school, Lucille continued her education in cosmetology, working in a salon thru WWII. At age 60, she graduated from CSUC with a degree in Gerontology. She had a life-long interest in civil rights, read an array of progressive journals, kept up with politics and world events and was a proud member of the League of Women Voters. The social concerns discussion group of Trinity Methodist Church met in her dining room every Thursday afternoon. She began playing the piano as young girl; her mother also played and encouraged her. Her Dad bought her a new baby grand piano when she was 14. It remained her most prized possession throughout her life. Over the years she acquired an extensive collection of sheet music. She played up until weeks of her death. She enjoyed gardening; her yard was filled with flowers, fruit trees, vegetables, roses. Canning and drying fruits, and making tomato sauce were a yearly routine. Viewing her backyard pine and redwood trees was a daily joy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years William J. (Jack) Bocks, a lifelong fruit and walnut orchard farmer and their youngest of four sons, Glenn. She is survived by their three sons; Ken, John and Alan; 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and by her brother Harvey Leon Fisher. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Methodist Church at 5th and Flume Streets in Chico. Contributions may be made in her name to the ACLU, Butte Rose Society, Planned Parenthood or the Butte Humane Society in care of Brusie Funeral Home.
