Lydia R. Sanchez passed away on March 5, 2022 in Albuquerque. Lydia was born near Belen, NM September 9, 1933. She graduated UNM with a Bachelor's Degree in Science and Education in 1956, followed by three years of graduate studies. She was a proud educator for 50 years. She taught elementary, high school, adult classes, and language tutoring in New Mexico, Florida, and California. Ms. Sanchez spoke fluent Spanish and also studied Portuguese and French. Her travels included the Bahamas, France, and extensive travels and studies in Mexico. In 1959 she worked as an educator for the Nickel Processing Corporation on the island of Cuba. In retirement, Ms. Sanchez devoted her time to scholarly studies in medieval history, poetry, and literature. A Rosary will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 5:00 PM at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE. Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 8:30AM, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Albuquerque, NM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
