Lydia Marie Valdez

Lexington, KY Lydia M. Valdez of Lexington KY, formerly of Longmont, CO, died October 3rd, 2016 after a brief illness. She was 92 years of age. She was born June 7, 1924 in La Jara, CO, the daughter of Jose and Genevieve (Sanchez) Cisneros. She married John F. Valdez August 4, 1941. She had the opportunity of traveling with John while he was in the Air Force. She enjoyed going to different parts of the country and experiencing the local area. John and Lydia made their home in Bountiful (La Jara), CO where they lived until they moved to Longmont in the spring of 1985. After John had passed away, she moved to Lexington, KY in the summer of 2005 with her daughter and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ida Valdez, brother Bernie Cisneros, husband John, son Skip and granddaughter Rachel Weller. Survivors include son Ronald Valdez, daughter Debra (Greg) Weller, daughter-in-law Eva Valdez, grandchildren Marisol (Darrell) Adams, Samantha Weller, Stephen Weller and great-grandson Zachary Adams. Lydia worked for the Conejos School District as a nutritionist and cook. She was an excellent cook, making many culinary wonderments. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Longmont and recently a member of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Lexington, KY. She was also a member of the Altar Society at St. Johns. She volunteered with her Altar Society friends providing many funeral meals for St Johns. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Funeral Information A funeral service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St. Longmont, CO 80501, Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. A rosary will be said before the service.
