Lyle Eugene Armstrong

Lyle E. Armstrong, 89, of St. Petersburg, Florida, entered into rest Wednesday, September 26, 2012. He was born in Staunton, Virginia and moved to St. Petersburg in 1980 from South Plainfield, New Jersey where he was the owner of Armstrong Tree Co. He was a 1942 graduate of West Fallowfield High School in Cochranville, PA. Locally, he was the owner of Armstrong's Western Trend in St. Petersburg. He was a member of the Raritan Valley Masonic Lodge #46 F&AM in Somerville, NJ, was a New Jersey Certified Tree Expert, and a former Guernsey Herdsman at Rutger's University in New Brunswick, NJ where he trained students for the new state of Israel. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church Dunellen, NJ where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Joan; 3 sons, Lyle E. Armstrong, Jr. of Whitehouse, NJ, Donald B. (Barbara) Armstrong of Flemington, NJ, Larry V. (Melodie) Armstrong of Export, PA; 3 daughters, Nancy E. (Dennis) Chonko of Monroe, NJ, Dawn M. Stephens of North Augusta, SC, Beverly J. (Steve) Passe of Clearwater; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation 5:00 with service following at 6:30 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2012 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home 4100 - 16th Street North with Shane Padgett and Nitram Masonic Lodge #188 F&AM officiating.
