Lynda Culler Moore
March 6th, 1958 - June 2nd, 2024
In Loving Memory
Surrounded by family on Sunday evening, June 2nd, Lynda Kathryn Culler Moore, of Sandy Run, passed into the arms of Jesus. In her sixty-six years here on earth, she made the lives of countless people better. She unselfishly helped so many, no matter the need. Her life was all about doing for others.
Lynda was born in Columbia, SC, on March 6, 1958, to Charles H. Culler, Jr, of Sandy Run, and Betty Marie Kimpland, of Ithaca, N.Y. Lynda is survived by her children, Keri Moore McIlravy (Shawn), Lauren Moore Cone (Jason) and Jeremy Alton Moore (Lana), sister, Kim Culler Sexton (Mike), nieces, Megan Sexton Normoyle, Kayla Sexton Obie and Sophie Moore Cooke, as well as her father. She has 10 grand-children whom she loved immensely. Kylie, Blair, Baylor, and Sutton McIlravy; Savannah, Evelyn, and Jackson Cone; Isaac, Liev, and Maya Moore were just as enamoured with their beloved Grandmother as she was with them. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Alton Moore, Jr, of Anderson and her mother.
Lynda attended Swansea High School where she was crowned the 1976 Homecoming Queen in addition to being voted by her peers to be Miss Senior. She lettered in varsity basketball, community softball, and was active in many student organizations including Student Council and Yearbook. After graduating, Lynda studied Business at the University of South Carolina. She worked at SCE&G, retiring in 2019 with 40 years of dedicated service. She held many positions, including team leader, supervisor, and manager. Whatever role she held, her presence was highly sought from within the company as well as from contractors and suppliere because of her acumen and integrity.
Lynda was a devoted Christian, mother, daughter, family member, employee, and friend. Close friends considered her as family because of her kind heart and loyalty. Lynda was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School and Wednesday night youth program coordinator and leader. A meal delivered to shut-ins on Wednesday nights was the result of Lynda's willingness to serve others. She provided breakfast for the children and youth of Mt. Zion every Sunday morning for over two decades, including this past Sunday when she still managed to have breakfast provided for the children. Children and young people were her calling and she served them all from a young age to her cousin/siblings and then as an adult to any child that crossed her path. All were valued, fed, gently guided and staunchly protected. She was a Vacation Bible School organizer and leader for over 20 years and served as the Administrative Board Chairperson for many years until her passing.
Lynda will forever be remembered for her willingness to serve others, dedication to her family and an unswerving moral compass. We are grateful she is no longer suffering but she will be greatly missed forever by all that loved her.
Visitation will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, June 9th, followed by a 2 PM Celebration of Life service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 2349 Old State Road, Swansea, SC 29160 followed by interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Her children are collecting stories of Lynda’s life - acts of kindness and selflessness, adventures, funny moments, pictures and sweet memories. If you would like to share your memories, please email your story to [email protected]. Lynda’s legacy of life-long hard work, altruism, friendship and unending love for all deserves documenting and remembering for future generations.
She was the brightest light which will forever shine in the hearts of all who love her.
In lieu of flowers, her children request memorials be made for a mission project the church is starting in Lynda’s name called, “Lynda’s Kids”, which will feed local children in-need. It is a cause that is very close to her heart and would be a genuine way to honor her memory. Donations with the “In Honor Of Lynda” designation can be mailed to Mt. Zion UMC 2349 Old State Rd. Swansea, SC 29160. Or, using the same designation, PayPal is available with the email [email protected]. Thank you.
