Lynn Barbour Ferguson
September 14th, 1956 - July 12th, 2022
Lynn Barbour Ferguson, a daughter, mother, sister, and friend, was peacefully reunited with her savior in heaven mid-day on Tuesday July 12th.Mary "Lynn" Barbour was born in Charlotte on September 14th, 1956 to Thomas Gray Barbour Jr. and Mary Wilkinson Barbour. She lived in Charlotte for the majority of her 65 years and loved this city and its people. Lynn Barbour graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1974 and attended classes at Appalachian State University.Lynn became a Ferguson on April 17th, 1990 when she married Bob Ferguson. Together they raised two wonderful children, Jolyn and Lauren, both in Charlotte and Connecticut. They were married for 17 years. In 2012 Lynn returned to Charlotte and lived the last 10 years close to old friends and family.Lynn was very easy to get to know. In her eyes there was no such thing as a stranger. She made true friends everywhere she went and had many admirers of her cool spirit and amazing fashion sense. She was always the life of the party with her contagious laugh and dance moves.Lynn is predeceased by her mother and father Thomas and Mary Barbour, and eldest daughter Jolyn. She is survived by her daughter Lauren Ferguson Smith and son-in-law Skylar Smith, as well as ex-husband turned friend Bob Ferguson. She is also survived by her sister Cile Woodliff and brother-in-law Guy Woodliff, brother Gray Barbour III and sister-in-law Lisa Barbour. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children; Taylor, Krista, Thomas, and Lucy Barbour; Abbie and Chase Mauney; Alyssa Barbour; Guy, Mary, and Margaret Woodliff; Katie Woodliff; and Elizabeth, Josh and Isla Willette. Additionally, she is survived by her aunts Boots Carter and Joyce Wilkinson and many beloved cousins.Lynn had a large family and loved them all dearly, and treated many more like they were family too. Lynn was known as Mama Lynn or Mama Ferg to many of her daughters friends growing up. She made sure that her home was a welcoming place for all.A memorial will be held at Tribute & Tallent Funerals & Cremations located at 1937 N. Sharon Amity Rd, Charlotte, NC, 28205 on Monday July 18th at 4:00 in the afternoon with a visitation beginning at 3:00.The family would like to sincerely thank the ICU team at Atrium Health Union West in Matthews, NC. They took incredible care of Lynn and her family during this tough time.As Lynn was a huge lover of animals, additional memorials may be made in her honor to your local animal shelter or humane society.Additionally Lynn will be laid to rest in the Columbarium Garden at Myers Park Presbyterian Church with her predeceased family.
