Lynne Anne Soule

Lynne Soule, 66, of Weldona, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home with loving family by her side on July 28, 2020. Lynne was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Marvin & Carolyn (Kaufman) Soule on April 22, 1954. Lynne grew up in Pine Bluffs, WY and was the oldest of three children. She attended school in Pine Bluffs through her junior year in high school. When she was a senior, her family moved to Harrisburg, NE. She graduated from Banner County High School in Harrisburg, NE in 1972. She married Vernon Jenewein on June 9, 1973 and had three children: Darcy, Nikole and James from this union. For the first couple of years that Lynne and Vernon were married, they lived in Gering and Oshkosh, NE. In 1977, they moved to the Seattle, WA area where Lynne was a homemaker while Vernon worked as a machinist for Boeing. In 1982, after a horrific car accident where Vernon and James were injured, Lynne and Vernon decided to move to Crawford, NE where they could live closer to family. They bought an existing beekeeping business where Lynne learned how to process honey and would spend weekends selling their honey at flea markets in the Nebraska panhandle. She also belonged to Country Creations that was ran by local artisans in the Crawford area. In 1988, the family moved to the Oshkosh, NE area. Lynne lived there until she and Vernon divorced in 1992. After the divorce, she moved to Chappell, NE where she worked as a lab tech for Leprino Foods. In 1994, the company moved to Fort Morgan and she moved with them and made the area her home for the remainder of her life. On October 31, 1997, Lynne married the love of her life, Frank Shaffer. She welcomed Frank’s two sons from a previous marriage, Robert and Matthew, into her family. Despite having five children between the two of them, Lynne had a void in her life that needed to be filled. In 2004, a young man named Derek England found her and filled that void. Lynne had given Derek up for adoption in 1973 due to unfortunate circumstances. She always wondered about him and had hoped that he had been given a good life. He was able to find her and fill that void she had been missing for so many years. He may not have known her for most of his life, but she loved him for all of his. Reuniting with him was one of the biggest joys of her life. Lynne had quite a few different occupations throughout her life. Aside from being a homemaker and lab tech for Leprino’s, she also worked as a bus driver and dispatch for County Express. Her last job was driving school bus for Weldon Valley, which she enjoyed until she retired due to health issues. Lynne enjoyed a lot of different crafts. She was always sewing or crocheting something. Many of her children’s clothing was handmade by her as they were growing up. There were quite a few holidays where her children, nieces and nephew wore matching pajamas that she had made. In most recent years, she had invested in learning how to do embroidery. Aside from crafts, she loved her many Shih Tzu dogs (Tai, Mallie, Bunny B, Rose, Missy, Smurf, Leia, Pud & Barney…oh how she adored each and every one of them!) She usually had at least one or two of them in tow most anywhere that she and Frank went. Lynne also enjoyed traveling. Some of her most favorite trips included a cruise to Alaska, Christmas on the beach in Florida, driving down the Oregon Coast and any trips to see family. She was well known for her twisted, quick-witted, dry sense of humor. She liked a good practical joke and loved to laugh. Lynne valued family above all else. She and Frank attended band and choir concerts, football and basketball games, wrestling matches, demolition derbies and anything else that grandchildren were involved in. She and Frank would often camp at the lake and enjoyed pulling their kids and grandkids on the tube behind their boat. Lynne and Frank drove out to Chicago on three different occasions to attend Naval bootcamp graduations for two sons and one grandson. She was a very proud Navy Mom and Grandma. Lynne is survived by her husband, Frank; mother, Carolyn Soule; children, Derek (Laurie) England, Darcy (Mike) Hinrichs, Niki Jenewein, James Jenewein, Robert (Megan) Shaffer, and Matthew (Sarah) Shaffer; grandchildren, Ethan, Tristan, Neleigh, and Jack Hinrichs, Felix and Christine Dalton, Sean, Aidan, and Lucas Shaffer; sister, Peggy (Mike) Shull; brother-in-law, Mark (Karen) Shaffer; and a large loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Soule; parents-in-law, Robert and Irma Shaffer; former son-in-law, Damion Dalton and numerous "fur-babies”. A Celebration of Life will be from 1-6 pm on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Lynne and Frank’s home in Weldona, CO. (This event will be mainly outdoors.) We encourage family and friends to come and spend the afternoon sharing memories in remembrance of Lynne.
