Macon Aubrey Dawkins, Jr. Mr. Dawkins, 73, of Stanley, NC and formerly of Charlotte, NC died Monday, September 2, 2013, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC. A native of Charlotte, Mr. Dawkins was born July 1, 1940, son of the late Macon Aubrey Dawkins, Sr. and Juanita Maxwell Dawkins. He was retired from the Mecklenburg County Police Department with thirty years of service. Mr. Dawkins was also employed with BB&T for fifteen years. Aubrey enjoyed wood working, camping, aviation and traveling. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawkins was preceded in death by a son, Scott A. Dawkins in 2006. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Graney Dawkins; son, Michael A. Dawkins and special friend, Charlotte; daughter, Julie Dawkins Brickhouse and husband, Joey; grandchildren Blake and Matthew Dawkins, Justin Auton, Melissa and Kevin Brickhouse. He is also survived by a special companion, Gracie, his dog. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, Thursday evening September 5, 2013, at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 6, 2013 in Sharon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Robin Johnson Hospice House, 5005 Shepherds Way, Dallas, NC 28034.
