Madeleine R. Pehush

Madeleine (nee Roussin) Pehush, 90, of Spring Valley, NY passed away on September 25, 2018. She was born on July 21, 1928 in Milton, Vermont to Albert & Marie (Caron) Roussin. In 1951, she married George M. Pehush of Haverstraw, NY and they became the proud parents of twelve children. In her forties, while raising her family and working full time, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, by earning her degree from RCC. She worked as an RN at Letchworth Village and the Robert Yeager Health Center, until her retirement. Madeleine served as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Joseph’s Church, where she was a devoted parishioner for over 60 yrs. Madeleine will be remembered for her many talents, including her creative birthday cakes, delicious sausage stuffing, traditional holiday pastries & desserts, elaborate needlepoints and sewing clothes for her children and their Barbie dolls. Madeleine is predeceased by her husband George M. and her sons Richard, Steven & her daughter Joyce, as well as, her brothers & sisters Eddy, Paul, Beatrice and Ellen. She is survived by her loving children Marie Pehush-Pawliczek and her husband James Sr. of Florida, NY, Elizabeth (Carlos) Garcia of Stafford, VA, Joanne ‘Joey’ Pehush of Spring Valley, John (Emmie) Pehush of Fort Mill, SC, Susanne (Everett) Engelhardt of Roundup, MT, Margaret (Gary) Bermel of Blauvelt, NY, Michael K. Pehush of Youngsville, NC, George (Sharon) Pehush of New Hampton, NY, Ellen (Daniel) Roland of Milford, DE, her cherished grandchildren Daniel, Kevin, Michael E., Steven, Elizabeth, Jessica, Amanda, Nicole ‘Colee’, and her siblings Alfred, Dennis, Gerard, Maurice, Laurette, Yvette, Claire, Marie & Susan. The family will receive friends & relatives at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY on Sat. Sept. 29th from 4–8 PM and Sun. Sept 30th from 2-4 & 7–9 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Madeleine on Mon Oct 1st at 11:15 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Spring Valley.
