Majorie A. Mitchell
February 21st, 1933 - November 24th, 2014
Mitchell, Marjorie A. (Margie), of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on November 24, 2014. Born in Plattsburgh, NY on February 21, 1933, her family moved to Madeira Beach, Fl. when she was just a little girl. She lived her life 'Fully' in St. Petersburg, Florida, graduating from St. Petersburg High School with the class of 1950 and remaining active with high school reunions, committee planning and cherished high school friends. She was quite proud to be a "St. Pete High Green Devil." In 1952, she married George Mitchell of Mitchell Builders Inc. She was a loving mother and homemaker to her 4 daughters. Being a long standing member of Lakewood Country Club, she enjoyed weekly bridge games and was an avid tennis player. She was quite the competitor, loving all games, from Scrabble and Yahtzee to nightly Jeopardy on TV, computer games, cards and Bingo. Moving to Orlando, Fl. In 2009, she became the 'Bingo Caller' for her residential community. Her passion, and zest in life, was of course, her love for the slot machines. She ventured out into the working world in 1985, becoming one of the overall top sales associates in men's fragrances for many years at Ivey's and Dillard's department stores. Through her marriage, her friends and her girls, Margie was fortunate to have a lifetime of long lasting relationships and create her legacy. She was loved by all and she 'never met a stranger.' She was a very proud grandmother and her smile could brighten any room. Her happy, tender heart would always carry us through. We will all miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George Mitchell, her father, Harold S. Allen, her mother, Louise B. Allen (Backus) and brother George B. Allen. She is survived by her four daughters, Lori Holmes (Randy), Southwest Ranches, Fl., Micki Hall, Madeira Beach, Fl., Pam Jordan, Tallahassee, Fl., Toni Wolters (Patrick) of Winter Park, Fl., 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N., St. Petersburg, where friends may call from 10 AM for a Memorial Gathering. A reception will follow the service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Cornerstone Hospice, 8009 South Orange Avenue, Orlando, Florida, 32809.
