Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Malcolm "Mike" Henry Cochran
November 17th, 1920 - July 22nd, 2006
No visitation On July 22, 2006, Malcolm (Mike) Henry Cochran, went home to be with our Lord, dying peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in Olympia, Washington. Born November 17, 1920 in Portland, Oregon to James & Helene Cochran, our father grew up there along with his sister, Alice. As a teenager, he worked for Western Union, delivering telegrams on his bicycle throughout Portland. Dad left Portland to join the US Navy in December of 1937, & proudly served our country in WWII, was a distinguished Pearl Harbor Survivor & served as a security inspector for the Atomic Energy Commission and Navy Dept. After serving nearly 9 years of active duty in the USN, Dad married our Mom, Jeanne Egle in 1949 in Oxnard, California. Dad served continuously in the US Navy Reserves & entered civil service employment at Pacific Missile Test Center at Point Mugu, CA & continued to progress through education to become an Engineering Technician. He received commendations from the Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy, E. Barrineau, for his efforts on the Phoenix Missile Weapon System & the F-14 Tomcat Weapon Systems. Dad retired eventually & moved back up to the Pacific Northwest, settling in Olympia, WA, with his daughter, Laurie, & son-in-law, Harry Rosemond, grandaughter Katie, & daughter-in-law, Ann Cochran. He enjoyed spending time planning & building his many projects, reading history, walks by the waterfront & trips to DQ & Cold Stone to get ice cream! During all his career, our Dad was a devoted patriot, father & grandfather, believing strongly in the values of faith in God, a good education, & strong work ethic, which he instilled in his 3 children, Richard, Pamela, & Laurie, & grandchildren & great-grandchild, Bryan, Christine, Matthew, Joshua, Kevin, Katie, & Ethan. Without words, our Dad & “Pop” taught us all about strength, integrity, sacrifice & faith, in being an amazing role model, who had an impact on so many lives & will continue to do so. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the family home, 5422 46th Court NE, Olympia, WA 98516 Please leave your condolence or message for the family by clicking on the "View Guestbook" link below.
