Croom, Manley P., Sr., 80, of St. Petersburg, died Monday Dec. 30, 2002 at Largo Medical Center. Born in Clinton, North Carolina, he came here in 1977 from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He served in the Army during WWII. He was an electrician at the Veteran?s Administration Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL and retired after 29 years of service. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ressie H.; four daughters: Louise Broda, Hudson, FL; Gloria Morton, Perry, FL; Mary McRae, Lake Worth, FL; and Rebecca Truesdell, Mt. Pleasant, SC; four sons: Phil, Jr., St. Petersburg; William, Ravenel, SC; Richard, Fayetteville, NC; and Chris, Linden, NC; three sisters: Lottie Ussery, Ellerbe, NC; Carolyn Robinson, Rockingham, NC; and Phyllis Steele, Summerville, SC; three brothers: William Croom, Gray?s Creek, NC; J.P. Croom, Fayetteville, NC; and Joseph Croom, Nokomis, FL; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel.
