Manuel M. Quintana

In Loving Memory of Manuel M. Quintana ~ December 5, 1934 – August 18, 2017 Manuel M. Quintana, age 82, a former resident of Chama, NM, passed away at his home in La Mesilla, NM, where he was being cared for by his friend and live in partner, Berna Martinez. Manuel was the youngest of 6 siblings, born to Teofilo and Cleotilde Quintana. At a young age, Manuel joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed in various ports of duty. Manuel worked for the New Mexico State Highway Department, Arriba Telephone Company, Azotea Contractors, and Kenneth Lively Distributing. In the 1980's and 1990's, Manuel and his wife owned and operated the Silver Bar in Chama, NM. Health concerns caused Manuel and his wife to sell the business and move to Espanoila area in 2001. Manuel was an avid sportsman and loved to fish and hunt. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosabra and daughter, Betty Jo. He was the last surviving sibling which included, Eduardo, Elena, Demetrio, Ernestine and Phil. Manuel is survived by his nephews and nieces, his second family, Berna Martinez and family, all of the Chavez and Martinez clan and other precious friends and neighbors. Honorary Pallbearers are Manuel's family and friends. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chama, NM. Interment will immediatley follow the Mass at 12:30 PM at the Chama Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
