Marcelino Sunga Caylao was born on June 2, 1920 to the late Victor Caylao and Isabel Sunga in Pampanga, Philippines. “Grandpa Marc” passed away peacefully on February 17, 2010 in Tacoma, WA. Marc took great pride in his service and retirement from the United States Army. As a Filipino Scout of the U.S. Army, he was a POW and survivor of the Bataan Death March during World War II. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Marc settled in Tacoma, WA. He went on to become, and eventually retire as, a machinist for the Boeing Company. Marc was preceded in death by his son, Lee (Norma). He is survived by his spouse, Julia; his daughters, Linda Gamboa (John), Vita Laxamana (Ross), and Aurora Pineda (Fred); his son, Ritchie Caylao (Zon); and his only surviving sibling, Remedios Chan. Grandpa Marc is also survived by his grandchildren, John, Rodney, Mariel, Jay, Jennifer, Cher (Jesse), Karen (Tien), Jason, Jeffrey (Tiffany), Mark, Michael, Janice, Brian, and Jandi as well as 17 great-grandchildren. Marc loved and enjoyed watching baseball on T.V. and snacking on chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce. Per his request, there will be no services. A special thank you, and with much appreciation, to his caregiver, Felecia.
