Obituary Marcia Ellen Davis 7/20/31 2/1/15 Marcia Ellen Davis, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2015 after a sudden stroke. She is survived by her long-time friend, Natalie Irrera, and her beloved dog, "Liz." She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude F. and Minnette Wheelock Davis. Marcia was born in Salina, Kansas on July 20, 1931. She attended Wheaton College in Illinois and earned a Masters Degree from Colorado State College in Special Education for the Visually Handicapped. She was an elementary teacher at the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind in Colorado Springs for 27 years. After retirement from teaching, Marcia was a volunteer at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region for 24 years, primarily working in the Cattery. She was Volunteer of the Year in 1996. Marcia was a compassionate advocate for all animals and supported many local and national animal charities. Feline rescue groups were especially dear to her heart. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. An outdoor Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Cappadona Funeral Chapel located at 1020 East Fillmore Street, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marcia Davis Fund at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
