Margaret "Peggy" Barnstorff

Obituary Margaret J. "Peggy" Barnstorff was taken from us after a courageous eightmonth battle with cancer. Born in Boulder in 1951, she grew up in the St. Louis area and went to Lawrence University in Wisconsin. She transferred to the University of Missouri where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She then received a Master's degree in Pediatric Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida. She also worked in medical facilities in Kansas City and Augusta, Georgia. Peggy came to Fort Collins to teach at Colorado State University where she met her husband Garth McCann. After teaching she worked as a pediatric occupational therapist with special needs students at Poudre School District for 32 years. Peggy also operated a private business, Pediatric Therapy Associates, and contributed a chapter to the textbook, "Occupational Therapy for Children." "Mrs. Peggy" was never happier than when working and playing with her students, except perhaps when spending time with her daughter Meridith McCann, son-in-law Stephen Groszewski, and baby granddaughter, Stella, or walking on the beach with her husband and dog, Pookie, at the family summer cottage in Door County, Wisconsin. Also in recent years she and Garth loved spending time at their home on Lake Dillon. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Henry Barnstorff. She is survived by her immediate family, sister Kathy (Bill Maisey), brother John (Lori), niece Beth (children - Kennedy and Harrison) and nephew Adam. The family will have a celebration of Peggy's life in Fort Collins on April 14, 2017, 4 PM, at the Drake Centre, 802 W. Drake Road. A reception will follow. The fund will be used to establish an annual achievement award for Poudre School District Integrated Services employees.
