Margaret ""Peg"" Lorraine Connelly
August 11th, 1943 - November 23rd, 2023
In Loving Memory of Margaret “Peg” Connelly August 11, 1943 – November 23, 2023 Peg was born in Denver, CO to William and Mary Lorraine Green. She was the second child of seven in their large Irish family. She has lived in the surrounding area of Denver most of her life; growing up in Golden and attending Holy Family High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Ed Connelly on May 22, 1965 at St Joseph’s Church in Golden. Soon after, they moved to Omaha while Ed was in the Air Force and eventually found their way back to Colorado. Ed and Peg have been together over 65 years (since they were 15!). Their 58-year marriage is a testament to a true and enduring love. Together they raised three children in Arvada, Colorado; Shannon Petersen (Roger), Eddie Connelly and Kathleen Huss (Brian). They have 5 grandchildren; Megan, David, Jackie, Ella, Johnny; and 2 great grandchildren; Julian and Penelope. After high school, Peg went to nursing school and spent the majority of her career caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Lutheran Medical Center for 26 years where she made lifelong friends that she kept close till the very end. She left her mark at Lutheran by starting many programs, including Lutheran’s Hospice program. She finished her career at CFMC and retired in 2008. Although petite in stature, Peg was a force. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do! From earning a Master’s degree while working full time, to making special occasion dresses for her daughters, to changing the oil in her beloved Bronco by herself. She could do it all! An amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, mentor, boss, friend…she wore many hats and left her indelible imprint on everyone’s heart. As a friend of hers said “That woman knows how to love well”. And love well she did. We are so sad to say goodbye, it still doesn’t seem real that she is gone. But we know she isn’t really gone. Her love for all of us will be her legacy and we know God has prepared an amazing place for her to finally get some rest! As Mom said to Dad in her last days “We’ve had a great life, haven’t we?” Yes Mom, you sure did. Peg’s dear sister, Mary Anne Yacovetta, died a few days after Peg. Mary Anne and Peg were so close – only a year apart in age – and they shared many wonderful times together throughout their beautiful lives. It is bittersweet to say that we will be celebrating both women at a joint-funeral mass.
