Margaret Giancaspro, age 94, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016. On January 6, 1922, Margaret was the first child born to Clara and Joseph Vitollo, in East Orange, New Jersey. Raised in Newark, New Jersey, Marge attended Speedway Avenue School and East Side High School. "Margie" met the love of her life, Frank. They were married on December 27, 1942 at Sacred Heart church in Newark. They moved to San Diego, California and soon Frank was deployed to the South Pacific where he served in the Marine Corps for 27 months. Marge spent her time in California working for the War Department. After his safe return they started their family in Irvington, New Jersey. They raised their two children, Frank and Johanna there until they moved to Verona. She was an active member in the Verona Chapter of the UNICO Women's Auxiliary. She also served as the President of the Women's Guild at Clara Maas Hospital, in Bellville. Marge loved being a mom and home maker. She made the best Sunday Gravy and out of this world meatballs. She also made everyone's Christmas with her famous variety of Italian cookies. Every June, she would make a special devotion in her home to her Patron Saint Anthony, where many friends and family would visit and participate in prayer. For Margaret, family was everything. She enjoyed being with her sisters, Mary, Etta, Rose and her brother Vincent as well as her many nieces and nephews. In 1997 Marge and Frank moved with their daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons to Las Vegas, Nevada, leaving the cold winters of New Jersey behind. They loved the weather and entertainment of their new home. Margaret and Frank were married for 69 years before Frank passed away in 2011. Margaret is survived by her sisters, Etta and Rose, son Frank and his wife Barbara, daughter Johanna and husband John, grandsons, Johnny and wife Hollis, Franky and Danny, and two great-grandsons Joseph and Anthony LeVecci. Margaret always lit up a room and is loved by so many, we all have lost someone special in our lives but are forever grateful to have had a part of ours. God bless you Mom and Dad, forever together. 🕯️ What I loved, and will most miss, about Aunt Margie was her ability to "say it like it is," but doing so diplomatically without hurting others' feelings. She was a kind and generous woman, whose spirit was larger than life. As we light this candle for her, may we always be reminded of the very bright light which radiated from deep within her heart and shined brightly within her eyes. Aunt Margie, may you rest in splendid peace knowing that you were loved by many, and that you will never be forgotten!
