Margaret "Peggy" Susan Kinter
May 11th, 1943 - April 28th, 2023
On April 28, 2023, Margaret “Peggy” Susan Kinter, age 79, passed away following a brief illness. Peggy lived in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and has lived in Indiana County, Pennsylvania since 1972. She had recently moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to be close to her daughter. Born in El Paso, Texas, Peggy was a true Texan at heart, hard-working, strong-willed, honest, and kind. She loved all things associated with Texas and American Indians of Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. Her children fondly remember how many westerns seemed to have been filmed “Just outside of Gallup, New Mexico”. Her love for songbirds was evident in her many collectables. Peggy loved her family and always worked to keep everyone connected and enjoyed spending time with her sister Pat “Patsy” Ancona, niece Paula Miller and her children James and Jacob Miller, and her brother Bob Grounds. Peggy was a hard worker and spent over thirty years as a real estate broker. She founded Chestnut Ridge Realty in Blairsville, Pennsylvania and later joined forces with Howard Hanna Realty and expanded to Indiana, Pennsylvania. Throughout her career in Real Estate she helped many achieve home ownership andmade lasting relationships with many clients and often considered them friends. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dear friend Liz Caruso. Preceding Peggy in death are her parents, James Warren and Mary Mabel Pfister Day of Socorro, New Mexico, her sister Patricia Ancona of Brownsville, Texas, and her brother, Robert Grounds of Camarillo, California. Peggy is survived by her three children and nine grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her children, John Scott Cavender and fiancée Kelsi Toth of Russelville, Arkansas, Jim Kinter and daughter-in-law, Kristie, of Boerne, Texas, and Mary Kathryn “Kathi” Kinter Maxwell, and son-in-law, Tom, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Her nine grandchildren were the loves of her life. Joshua, Benjamin, Sarah, and Samuel Kinter of Boerne, Texas, Channing and Carrick Cavender of Blairsville, Pennsylvania, and Michael Maxwell of Avon, Ohio, Jonathan Maxwell of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Christopher Maxwell of New York City, New York. In lieu of a funeral, Peggy wanted a Celebration of Life Ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Crystal Terrace Room at Chestnut Ridge Golf and Conference Center in Blairsville. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Friends of Caroline, Caroline’s Cottage. The wonderful center is a nonprofit organization solely funded by generous contributions.
