Margaret Ann McManus
May 5th, 1922 - September 5th, 2012
Margaret A. (Peggy) McManus, died this past Wednesday, September 5, 2012 after a progressive illness. Peggy was born to Margaret A. (Hart) Cote, and Mr. Aime` H. Cote` in Worcester, MA on May 5, 2022. Later, after she attended Nursing School, she joined the Armed Forces when the war broke out and served her country for 10 years as a Naval Lieutenant, WWII and Korean Conflict inclusive. Following the wars, she came home and married her beloved husband Neil, or Cornelius McManus. They joined Christ the King Church. She also was an active member of the City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Friday Afternoon Club, The Worcester Women's Club, The New England Retired Navy Nurse Corps Association, The Retired Officers Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. In Melbourne, FL, she became a member of the Ascension Catholic Church. Moving to Florida was difficult as she had many, close lifelong friends, however, after her husband died, she decided to move to Brevard Co. to be closer to two of her children and six grandchildren. Peggie enjoyed crafts, going to the beach, walking and was an avid gardener in her day. Her husband of 47 years, Cornelius P McManus, died in 1999, and her sister Marie died in 2004 in Massachusetts. She also leaves one daughter in Worcester, MA, Aime Marie McManus, as well as many, many friends. Here in Melbourne, she leaves a son, Dr. James McManus of Satellite Beach, FL; her daughter-in law, Melanie Kalbac McManus and daughter, Margaret McManus, also a former US Naval Nurse Corps Officer and caregiver for her mother these past 5 years. James' children are Benjamin , Zachary, and Chelsey Marie. Meg's daughters include Dr. Kathleen Anderson, Rebecca Marie and Morgan Ann Grube. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 11 am at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne, FL. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery in Worcester, Massachussetts.
